The Plymouth Merchant Navy Monument PRESS RELEASE

  • April 13, 2019

On the 24th of April at 1100 the Lord Mayor of Plymouth, Councillor Sam Davey, will cut the first turf in preparation for the construction phase that will begin shortly afterwards. As can been seen from the above artist’s impression the venue will be adjacent to the Naval War Memorial and the monument celebrating the tri-centenary of the defeat of the Spanish Armada.

By happy co-incidence Councillor Davey began his career in the Merchant Navy and holds a certificate as a Master Mariner.

Members of the organising committee will be available for interview and filming/photography will be most welcome.
